A Volunteer's Story

Laura and Jane Beckman

As we’ve said before (see this blog post), The Rose is looking for volunteers to assist our Front of House staff during the upcoming 2016-2017 Season.

After putting out our request, we’ve had some people ask us — what does it mean to volunteer at The Rose? And while we could tell you how Rose volunteers help with everything from passing out tickets from our Will Call system to loaning booster seats for the littlest ones and assisting the concessions stands during the intermissions of our Premium events, we think hearing about The Rose volunteer experience will mean so much more coming from an actual Rose volunteer.

Meet Jane Beckman, a long-time Rose volunteer. Here is, in her own words, what it means to help out at The Rose:

Volunteer ushers at the Rose are trained to welcome patrons, help them locate the restroom, elevator, Restless Room and booster seat booth. It is fun to be with the public to assist and share their experience with the magic of live theater. The thrill of seeing awe-stricken faces of first-time patrons when they enter the majestic lobby is a bonus.

Ushers ensure audience members have an extraordinary cultural outing, whether it’s a kindergarten class that has arrived on a school field trip bus to enjoy their first live theater performance or a family during opening night excitement.

The caliber of award-winning productions, even world premieres written by Rose staff, is such fabulous, affordable family entertainment!

Ushering at the Rose is a wonderful community service opportunity. When guests exit, they say “see you soon” because they have been entertained, educated, challenged and inspired.

We want YOU to have this same wonderful experience! And, as our thank you, beyond being a part of sharing the theatrical arts with children, our volunteers will receive two vouchers for free tickets to any regular season show! We also will fulfill community service hours for those who are in need.

If interested in volunteering, CLICK HERE to sign-up! Or call our volunteer line at (402) 502-4627 to talk with Scott!

Volunteer orientations for the 2016-2017 Season will be August 17th at 7:00pm and August 20th at 10:00am.

Thank you and we hope to see you soon!
