The spotlight at The Rose is open to young people of all ages, including teens. Teens programming at The Rose explores a wide range of theatrical interests, including acting, directing, playwriting, costume design, lighting design and much more.

Teens 'N' Theater

teen2Teens ‘N’ Theater provides teens, ages 13 to 18, opportunities to roll up their sleeves and get active in world of theater. The Rose produces six teens-only shows each season, where teen participants are given opportunities to act, direct, write, design and stage manage. Students perform fresh, thought-provoking work at The Rose’s Hitchcock Theater.

Teens ‘N’ Theater is open to high school students who have not yet graduated. There is no cost to participate and the program is open to all interested students. Please note the audition schedule for each show.

2015-16 Teen Season

teen3The Rose Theater’s innovative Teens ‘N’ Theater program shines the spotlight on Omaha’s teen talent with a season of five spectacular 2016-17 shows.  The season offers a diverse variety of theater experiences that will take students and audiences on a journey through classic works, original productions and contemporary issues.

Tickets: Teens ‘N’ Theater show tickets are $6 each and available through the Rose Box Office at (402) 345-4849 or at the door on the day of show.  Teens ‘N’ Theater show tickets are not available online.

Teen Auditions & Groups

Teens ‘N’ Theater Auditionsteenaudition

Teens who have not yet graduated from high school are welcome to audition for Teens ‘N’ Theater shows. Click here for audition information.

Auditions for the 2016-17 Teens ‘N’ Theater season will be held:

  • Pride Players – Wednesday, Oct. 26 at 6:30 pm OR Tuesday, Nov. 1 at 6:30 pm
  • Broken Mirror – Tuesday, Jan. 3 at 6:30 pm OR Saturday, Jan. 7 at 3:00 pm
  • Young, Gifted & Black– Tuesday, Feb. 14 at 6:30 pm OR Thursday, Feb. 16 at 6:30 pm
  • Young Playwrights Festival – Monday, March 13 at 6:30 pm OR Thursday, March 23 at 6:30 pm.

Please choose to attend just ONE audition date per show.
All auditions are held at The Rose Theater, 2001 Farnam Street, Omaha, NE 68102.

 

The Rose Brigade

The Rose Brigade is an elite group of musical theater performers who perform pre-shows before select mainstage productions and, in some cases, participate in local and regional competitions. Click here for audition information.

 

Transcendtrix

Transcendtrix dancers are selected by audition to represent The Rose in local and regional dance competitions and to perform within the community. Click here for audition information.

Teen Classes

The Rose provides a wide range of classes for teens. Whether you are interested in acting, playwrighting, dance or voice, we have a class for you! Beginners or those with a bit more experience will find their place in the spotlight at The Rose. For information, please visit our class search engine here.

Teen Volunteer Team

The Rose’s Teen Volunteer Team helps run the light boards, paint scenery, prepare props and more. Volunteers earn volunteer credit toward free tickets, classes and more. This program gives teens an opportunity to increase their theatrical experience in a professional context, while building relationships with teens who share their interests.

Teen Internship

The Rose offers a Teen Internship to high school juniors who plan to study theater in college. Teen interns work a minimum of 150 hours from June to May, gaining valuable hands-on experience as they contribute to a variety of artistic, educational and administrative projects.

To apply for the Teen Internship, send a letter of interest and resume to Stephanie Jacobson at stephj@rosetheater.org no later than April 2nd.
