The Bully Show!
An Interactive Theater Production

Tension between the host and his assistants increases as the game progresses and eventually leads to a surprising conclusion. Note: Nebraskaland & The Bully Show require a large enclosed space, such as a cafeteria or gym, where interruptions are at a minimum. For The Bully Show we recommend a space approximately 20’ wide by 20’ deep. For Nebraskaland we recommend a space approximately 20’ wide by 15’ deep. We also appreciate main floor spaces that facilitate our scenery and equipment load-ins. We need one electrical outlet, but supply our own extension cords. The actors will need the space for an additional 20 minutes to set up, and then 20 minutes to tear down.

DRAMA IN THE CLASSROOM

A professional actor/teacher will visit the classroom for three to five days in one week and use drama activities in the classroom to explore a curriculum topic.

Teachers can choose one of three curriculum topics:

Bringing Literature to Life (Grades K-8)

This three to five day workshop uses drama skills such as statue work, pantomime and characterization to explore books and stories that the class is currently reading. These techniques allow students to combine their knowledge of the literature with drama skills that explore the locations, situations, feelings and experiences of the characters within the stories.

Bringing History to Life (Grades 1-8)

This three to five day workshop introduces students to specific drama skills such as statue work, pantomime work, and characterization. The workshop uses these drama techniques to kinesthetically explore a particular moment in history, which helps students gain deeper understanding of the perspectives & conflicts that the characters (both famous & lesser known) faced during a specific event in history.

The Civil War: Slavery and the Family (Grades 4-6)

This three to five day workshop begins introducing students to specific drama skills such as statue work, pantomime work and characterization. The students are then assigned parts and rehearse a short 10 minute play exploring different points of view during the Civil War. The rehearsal, character work and final sharing of the play will help the students kinesthetically understand some of the feelings, experiences and conflicts that families of all types faced during the civil war.

Note: For the residencies we suggest that you have a space in your classroom or a common area cleared out in order to make room for the interactive drama activities. Other topics such as American Revolution, Lewis and Clark, Dr. Seuss, Tall Tales and more are also available. Feel free to discuss curriculum topics when you call.
